Wow it's been a long time since I have updated the blog... little John David will be 6 months old on July 15. I can't believe it! He is laughing, getting baths more regular now, cooing, and has discovered his hands and voice. He makes sounds all day long and stares at his hands for 10 minutes at a time just in awe of them and how they are attached to his body... it's adorable! His aunt Jacque and Uncle Cutler were in town recently and sweet Jacque sat him up and he has been sitting up by himself now! He loves to sit up and then once he is tired he falls over and laughs. He also is a pro at tummy time. Pretty soon he will be crawling.... and I know my life will change dramatically. John is the most incredible father. We count the minutes until he gets home and he is always ready and willing to change diapers, play with John David, and help me out with house stuff. WE LOVE YOU DADDY!! It makes my heart melt to watch John and John David interact.... John David laughs at dad so easily... I wish he thought I was as funny as daddy. OH and how could I forget...... his Mimi took him swimming and dunked him under water and he LOVED it... a true water bug! Thanks Mimi for being an amazing grandmother. John David also went to Katy with mom recently and got to meet 2 new friends, Caroline and Jack. These are my friends, Lauren and Allison, that I have known since Kindergarten, it's their babies.
Another huge developmental milestone... John David got his first tooth June 25. It's the cutest little thing and as he rolls his tongue over it often I know he is thinking, "what is this thing"!! We were driving to Midland and he has just been fed, burped, and changed and suddenly he was screaming. I pulled over 15 minutes into our 1 hour 45 minute drive from Lubbock to Midland and couldn't figure out why he was crying so I gave him some gas medicine.... well after an hour of crying he finally fell asleep. It wasn't until the next day that I discovered a sharp little white thing.... his first tooth broke through!! I felt horrible... I know, mother of the year. Thank goodness for Baby Orajel and teething tablets.
Since my last updated blog John and I had our first Mother's Day and Father's Day. They were amazing days as just the 3 of us spent the day together just relaxing and laughing in awe of how good God is to bless us with John David.
We have traveled to Midland to see Aunt Jacque, Katy to see Tootsie and Pop, Wisconsin to see Mimi and Grandpa Wayne as we buried sweet Great Grandma Ruth, and finally to Dallas last week. He is such a good little traveler. At Great Grandma Ruth's funeral he was so good and everyone just loved on him. We are all so thankful John David and Great Grandma Ruth got to meet and one day, many many years from now, they will see each other in heaven... so neat to think!
Well enjoy all these pictures and next time I update the blog he will be crawling... any day now!
